The shadow was really difficult to do, but I think I've got it down.

Today :)

I'm done with everything that we've done so far, so I was experimenting with some backgrounds.

Backgroundssss

This was beyond fun to make. I was just experimenting with different styles.

Reflection

Blending is getting much easier than it was before. I think I'm alright at the moment, no concerns.

Color Blending

This is my secondary and tertiary blends.

Blending #3

The final blending piece.

Blending #2

This is the second step where we color in the rectangular pieces in the graph.

Blending

This is the first step of the blending technique, with the boxes and the graph.

Background #1

I made this first flowery background. There were more steps to this, but I liked it this way.

Vocab #3

Rhythm:
A regular repetition of anything in a piece of art that gives it the look of movement
Directional Movement:
An appearance of movement that is meant to keep the observer's eye on the piece. It's meant to catch the eye and to keep the eyes following a path.
Proportion/Scale:
This is the relationship between the size of an object in proportion to the human body.
Balance:
The even distribution of objects in a piece that make a piece more pleasing to the eyes.
Unity:
This is how well different elements work together in a piece.

Harmony:
This is when similar elements are used throughout the whole piece. It makes the image seem more put together and less complicated.
Contrast:
When two opposite elements are put together in a piece to make the artwork more exciting and interesting.
Emphasis:
The focal point or attention catching part of a piece that draws the observer's attention.

Vocab #2

Line: A long, straight mark, cord, band, or wire.
Shape: The outline of a certain object, the way it looks, the way it curves.

Form/Volume: Unlike a shape, the form of an object is connected to its 3D-ness. The form is all the things in a piece of  art that one can see.
Color: Color is determined by how light reflects off of certain objects, causing them to appear colorful.
Value/Tone: This is how light or how dark something is, often referring to color in itself.
Texture:Usually, this refers to how a certain object may feel. However, in art, an artist can portray the way something should feel without changing the actual substance, but just by drawing
Space: This refers to the empty spots and distances between, around, and within objects in an image. It can be both negative and positive.

Perspective: This is a way to show a 3D object in a drawing that is obviously 2D.

Vocab #1

Analogous Colors: Analogous colors are colors on the color wheel that are next to each other. Often one of these colors is a primary color.
Complementary Colors: These colors are exactly across from each other on the color wheel.

Primary Colors: There are three primary colors. these are the colors that when mixed in certain ways and in certain amount can create any other color.
Secondary Colors:These colors are the colors made up of two of the primary colors.
Tertiary Colors:These colors are made by mixing primary and secondary colors from next to each other.

Asymmetry: This is when the two sides of something are not exactly the same. If you were to cut this image in half, then draw the exact thing from the uncut half, you would have a different image.
Symmetry: This is the opposite of asymmetry. If you were to cut this image in half and draw out a reflection of the uncut side, you would end up with the same image.

Finishing up

We're working on trying to finish up all the new overlay techniques so we can be done with the rhino/zebra project.

Starting over

Our rhino technique was a bit off, so we are starting over by cutting out the zebra better and into pieces so it looks more realistic.

Levitation #3

We made a mind map with our three levitation ideas, including all the tools, skills, and environment that we would need to pull off each picture.

Progress

Today I fixed up some of my rhino which looked a little bit deformed and made sure the rest of the zebra/rhino was aligned.
